About Us

Roundhay School is a vibrant and successful comprehensive school which reflects the truly cosmopolitan nature of Leeds. We are delighted to have been recognised by Ofsted as 'a leading edge school .... that does many things outstandingly well' (Ofsted). We are proud of our broad, appropriate and largely traditional curriculum that equips our young people for the future. We believe that our motto, 'Courtesy, Co-operation and Commitment', underpins our academic success. We feel it is important to work hard together as we seek to develop well rounded young citizens for the 21st Century. We are fortunate to have committed staff, excellent facilities and a thriving sixth form of over 380 students. We are also well supported by parents of whom 99 percent would recommend us to other parents. All these help to make us the most popular school in Leeds.

We are far from complacent and never claim to get it right all of the time. Staff tirelessly seek to improve all that we do, in and out of the classroom. We expect no less of all our pupils, as we set everyone high standards to achieve. 'Students achieve well and make good progress, ... very positive attitude to work ... excellent behaviour'. (Ofsted) which is reflected by the highest attendance rate in the city. We believe it is important not to stand still and are honoured to be a National Support School assisting other schools in the City and region through sharing good practice. In September 2012 we became an 'All-through' school (4-18 years) with a new £8.4 million state of the art building located a mile from our main school site to serve the needs of an expanding primary aged population in Leeds.
